Sean Connolly is an actor and voice artist who was brought up in Derbyshire, England by Anglo-Irish parents. He moved to Birmingham in the mid-eighties and trained at the Birmingham School of Speech Training and Dramatic Art, where he also met his actress wife Bella Hamblin. Soon after graduating Sean clinched his first theatre job playing the Cheshire Cat and Humpty Dumpty in Alice in Wonderland in Barnsley, England. He was very proud to get his prized Equity card playing a cat and an egg!
Extensive audio drama work soon followed, both for the BBC & Independent companies including more recently playing Keith Horrobin in BBC Radio 4's long running soap The Archers.
His British television debut was Boon (1986) for Central Television playing The Librarian in an episode called Bully Boys featuring character actor Graham Stark, well known for appearances in The Pink Panther film series. Further credits followed such as British Sci-Fi series Jupiter Moon (1990), ITV children's television favourite Woof! (1989) (opposite Nigel Havers), Resnick: Rough Treatment (1993) opposite Jim Carter and Tom Georgeson, Cruel Train (1995) with David Suchet, The Bill (1999)_, _Doctors (2003)_ with Stephanie Cole and the Channel 4 Television nurse drama No Angels (2004).
Sean's feature film credits include Kiss Kiss (Bang Bang) (2001) (opposite Stellan Skarsgård, Chris Penn and Paul Bettany). In more recent years credits include N.F.A. (No Fixed Abode) (2012), iWitness (2014), We Are the Freaks (2013) and in 2016 The Marker (2017) all for the award-winning 104 Films. Sean also co-produced his first feature film in 2012, the award-winning British paranormal mystery thriller The Casebook of Eddie Brewer (2012), starring Peter Wight and Ian Brooker as Eddie Brewer. He was also the film's casting director! Sean was an Associate Producer on the 2014 documentary More Canal than Venice which was nominated for an RTS Midlands Centre Award. In 2015 he played Alf Robertson in the RTS Midlands Centre Award-Winning short drama Battle Lines (2014) once more with 104 Films and British Sign Language Broadcasting Trust.
Alongside his screen acting credits, Sean has gathered some notable 'voice' credits in film and television, primarily with Aardman Animations and the BBC where he voiced 30 characters in 13 episodes in the classic Claymation series Rex the Runt (1991), in association with Studio Canal, Sean voiced 10 characters in the Oscar, Golden Globe and BAFTA 2016 nominated Shaun the Sheep Movie (2015) and on Boxing Day 2015 he was heard playing Hector the Head Llama in the Aardman Animations/BBC - Christmas Special Shaun the Sheep: The Farmer's Llamas (2015). Sean has also been heard on the CBeebies Television series Little Prairie Dogs (2010) playing all the male Prairie Dog characters in across the 10 episodes, opposite Kate Sachs daughter of Andrew Sachs. Also for the Oscar-winning company BreakThru Films, Sean performed all the character voices (a family of mice and villainous cat!) in the CGI Animated Short Papa's Boy aka Isän poika (2010), the film went on to be Oscar Long-Listed in 2012 eventually missing out on a nomination for Best Animated Short.
